This Saturday event will begin at 2pm with upbeat worship and song. We'll then hear from:
- Rev. Torli Krua: a Liberian and African Missionary to America, serving in the Boston area through Colorado-based Missions Door. (www.missionsdoor.org) Pastor Torli assists refugees in transitioning to American life, introduces them to Jesus, and helps in returning home when possible. Torli's work has earned recognition from members of Congress, and awards from the Peace Corps National Association and the National Lawyers Guild (Massachusetts Chapter). Pastor Torli calls his model “From There To Here & Back.” He has authored chapters in two books: Refugee Diaspora and No Longer Strangers.
- John Klaassen: a former pastor then missionary in North Africa, and current Department Coordinator for Global Studies at Boyce College. In North Africa John directed a relief and development agency. John supervised teams in three distinct regions of the country in the areas of primary education, clean water and health education. Since moving back to the US, John and his wife Shari have been working with refugees in the Louisville area.
In addition to our adult sessions, a fun-filled, kids program will bring the field of international missions to your children aged kindergarten through 3rd grade. Childcare will also be available for infants through preschool.
Our Saturday event will culminate, for all ages, with an International Food Festival beginning at 5pm! This 2022 Missions Encounter Weekend will then conclude during regular service times on Sunday morning (9 & 10:45am).
